Young Kun Ko

I am an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Penn State University.

Before this, I was a Faculty Fellow at New York University, where I worked with Professors Oded Regev and Subhash Khot. I received my PhD from Princeton University in 2018, advised by Professor Mark Braverman.

Research Interest

I work in computational complexity theory, particularly on data structure lower bounds via information-theoretic and communication-complexity techniques. At this stage of my career, and as far as my abilities allow, I see my calling as carrying forward the program begun by Mihai Pătrașcu (1982–2012). I also have a side interest in bioinformatics.
